Bulletin Boards

Hello again! It is bulletin board time.  This is my big bulletin board for March.  Under each shamrock is something special. A piece of candy, extra time at recess, etc.  They get to take one off and whatever is under the shamrock they got! They really love finding out what is under each one.

This one really isn't a bulletin board, but we put it up in our art room! It turned out really great!

This is the board inside my room.  We did color mixing and they all got to mix and make color wheels. The students really enjoyed it and learned about Primary and Secondary colors! (:

P and Q Week!

For P week, we made parrots and a class peacock.  This week was split into two and we also worked on Q.  For Q we made books and practice our writing skills.

This parrot was a real hoot with the kiddos.  They all thought it was an angry bird.  Even some of the parents thought it was an angry bird.  I laughed because in the end, it did sort of turn out that way.  We used paper plates and painted them red.  Using a template, the students colored the other parts using crayons.  After the paint dried, students glued on the extra pieces.

For the peacock, I traced the students hands on construction paper.  I put that had on other construction paper and cut out the hands so that I would have enough feathers to cover the whole bird.  It turned out really good!

If you haven't noticed, I got a new camera.  I got an iPhone 4s and the camera on that thing is amazing! My pictures from here on out should be much better!

Long Time Coming... O Week!

Sorry about waiting so long to post.  That is the busy life of a teacher I suppose! (:  Anyway, for O week we made O paintings and we talked about what an octopus was.  We practiced writing letter O and came up with words that started with letter O.

Using paint, students created an octopus.  They got to choose which color they liked best.  They painted their hand and keeping their fingers all together you press down to make the body.  Then you repaint the fingers and use the fingers to make the legs.  They turned out really good!

We also did "O" paintings. Using the letter O they had to create masterpieces.  You can see the flowers and clouds in this one! A lot of them had trouble with this concept of just using an O to make pictures.  As long as I saw some sort of O in the painting in the end, it was fine!
